Music lovers from near and far are anticipating seeing their favourite acts perform live at the 2022 staging of what is dubbed ‘The greatest reggae show on Earth’ — Reggae Sumfest.

As it approaches, dancehall act Chronic Law has been putting in the work necessary to deliver a spectacular show.

“Rehearsals are going extremely great,” the deejay told THE WEEKEND STAR. “I’m just doing my best to make my fans feel proud. They can expect a very great and memorable performance from me and the only thing matters to me is making my fans happy and excited to see me perform my musical craft.”

The artiste was expected to perform as a closing act at the 2019 show, however, he was unable to make an appearance after Reggae Sumfest was called to close by law enforcement officers. This will be his first main stage appearance. There has not been a physical staging of Reggae Sumfest since Jamaica recorded its first case of COVID-19 in March 2020. With its return to Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, a number of entertainers are billed to appear. Chronic Law is set to perform on festival night one, along with Aidonia, Shenseea, Spice, Masicka, Ding Dong, Laa Lee, Intence, Skeng, Alkaline, Teejay, Govana, Aidonia, IWaata and several others.

Chronic Law, whose given name is Akeem Campbell, hails from St Thomas. Proud of his roots, he said he is happy for his upbringing and believes it has made him who he is.

“I love my parish and growing up in St Thomas has been okay. From then till now an as you can see my parish is elevating, we are getting good roads and so much more. All I can say is that my parish has a bright future to come” he said.

Chronic Law is one of several big names coming out of the parish. Others include, Popcaan, Skillibeng, Rytikal and Jada Kingdom.

Since his rise to stardom in 2019, with the hit song Hillside, Chronic Law has been consistent, following up with other popular tracks like Corrupt, Still A Bleed, Plastic Smile and Nuh Tell Mi Nuttn.

Reggae Sumfest attracts fans from all over the world to witness performances by reggae and dancehall’s best. Several international acts have also graced the Sumfest stage including Nicki Minaj, Usher, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg and Ja Rule. The week-long series of events is set for July 18 to 23.
