Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz made history on Wednesday night when they qualified for their second FIFA Women’s World Cup.
They defeated Haiti 4-0 in the Concacaf Women’s Championship in Monterrey, Mexico to become the first Caribbean nation to qualify for back to back World Cups.
Captain Khadija Shaw scored two and claimed an assist, Trudi Carter scored and provided another assist, and Drew Spencer scored a header to give Jamaica the four goals.
They finish second in Group A behind reigning world champions the United States of America, who also defeated Mexico 1-0 on the night.
Canada and Costa Rica qualify from Group B as Concacaf’s two other representatives in Australia and New Zealand next year.
